I Remember...

Because I have dated Chris since I was 14 years old, I've known Ron for quite some time - in fact, he was the one who drove Chris to come see me for the first time at my parents house in 1996. Especially when we were younger, Ron would take us to dinner at cool places and involve us in things he and Chris shared an interest in; the Boat Show at the Convention Center, The Burnet Senior Golf Classic, Hunting and Fishing Expos. I always admired the way he was so excited to show what he loved to Chris (and me).

Chris and I have grown up together, and I've been there to witness the relationship between him and his father. Whenever Chris needed to talk or advice, he could call his dad and pretty much no matter what Ron was doing, he would answer. At the end of every conversation, they were sure to say "I love you" That is pretty amazing stuff considering they were men, and men aren't always openly affectionate. I always admired Ron for showing Chris that kind of love - I know it makes him a great husband to me and I know it will make him an amazing dad in the future.

At our wedding in March, Ron was able to make the drive from Colorado to Chaska which meant so much to both of us. He gave an emotional and heartfelt toast and it was such a wonderful memory that I (and Chris) will always cherish.
Ron's death was so sudden and shocking and, to put it simply, just so sad. I feel such a sadness for Chris and for me, as well as the grandkids in the future that Ron will never get to meet. I feel sad for the many friends all over the country who can attest to the man he was.

Ron was such a kind person and deserved to get to live out his life on earth - moving back to MN after years of being away. Selfishly, it is human nature to have regrets and want him here with us, but I know he is in heaven looking down on us.

We want to celebrate Ron and the impact he had on our lives and look forward to sharing that celebration in a memorial services to be held after the first of the year. (Details forthcoming)

We thank you all for your prayers and for your kind words during this difficult time. We too extend our sympathy to all of you who were caring friends and loved ones of Ron.

May you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year to cherish and appreciate your loved ones.
